HTFU

Good morning #fit friends

Cyclists are an interesting group of people.

One website known as the Velominati has developed a code – 95 rules that must be strictly adhered to. To break a rule is an abomination.

Rule number 5 – HTFU – Harden the fuck up.

This pretty much applies to everything – Weather, riding conditions, terrain, … when in doubt refer back to rule #5.

I have always followed this philosophy during racing. I know there is NOTHING that will stop me from finishing.

But I haven’t been following this philosophy with my daily workouts.

Now don’t get me wrong, I have been working  my ass off completing most workouts.

But I am not feeling that I am giving my all… my intensity has been lacking along with my “HEART“.

I am pretty sure this is common as you hit your peak weeks in Ironman training.

Its hard to give your all day in and day out for 30 weeks…

Where I need to step it up is on my weekend long rides.

I have been a big baby.

Avoiding Highway 105 out of fear.

Hiding on the trainer.

Enough is enough.

Time for this Mama to HTFU.

I am running out of time.

With 3 hard workouts left – yup that’s all’ 3 long ass rides left. 6 hours, 6.5 hours, 6 hours. It is time for me to put on my big girl panties and ride outside. Last chance to get some hills under my belt before I face the 180 km of Kentucky rollers.

This weekend I am going to ride my bike to Ear Falls – 72 km away have a sandwich and ride back SOLO!

NO EXCUSES – well I shouldn’t say that, rain will stop me, but only guaranteed rain, not the 20-40% showers for 1 minute.

I know I CAN do it, I just have to walk the walk.
