A word…..

Hey There #fitfam,

The idea of one little word came to me back in 2013, 2014. I was in the midst of a Holiday Booty Buster Challenge hosted by the amazing Amanda at Run to the Finish. She was inspired years earlier by Ali Edwards a creative genius who chose a word, one single little word, to inspire or define her year. Ali uses this word through her art and as a mantra.

I too was inspired by these ladies and for the past several years I have chosen my word just  few days before we rang in the new year.

Past words included:

Last year I added to my one little word and came up with a phrase

Challenge (1)

and a Mantra

Challenge (2)

I am continuing on with this theme again this year.

I have been using my newest word as a hashtag on Instagram. A while ago a fellow social media diva had used this # and I loved it!! Since then I have added it to nearly every social media post.

My word for 2016 is the definition of how I feel at the moment and will help me set the proper mindset needed to cross the finish line of my Half Ironman in Calgary.

My word for 2016:

Challenge (3)

My Phrase for 2016 is also along the same theme of having a positive mindset. This past summer I got a tattoo of the word Believe on my wrist to remind myself that:

Lastly, every woman attempting major feats such as multiple half marathons and triathlons needs a mantra. A saying to repeat over and over in my own head when things get tough.

Challenge (4)

That’s how you conquer 20 milers in the heat alone, with bugs in your hair, that’s how you survive hilly climbs and cold winter runs. You do all of that, the non-glory workouts by simply …. putting one foot in front of the other.

Do you have a theme for 2016? Any Mantras that help you along the way???

  1. I’ve chosen a word every year since 2007. A few years have been balance (2 years), embrace, and open. My word for 2016 is FOCUS. I chatted about it on the blog today.

Peace and joy to you in the new year friend. xoxo
