Energy Ball Recipe and a Giveaway!

Good Morning!!

It is a quiet Sunday morning in the Trihardmama house and I am excited to be sharing a recipe and a giveaway from the kind folks at Manitoba Harvest.

I have been using Hemp Hearts for several months now and I am happy to be able to let you have the chance to try them yourself for FREE.

Hemp Hearts are grown right here in Canada, not far from my home in a hemp-dedicated facility – no issues with cross contamination for those with food allergies!! They are RAW, VEGAN, NON- GMO little pods of protein and omegas!!! Plus they taste pretty darn great!

I add Hemp Hearts to all kinds of things as they really boost the nutritional value, 10 grams of protein and 10 grams of omegas in a 30 gram serving!

  • Sprinkled on yogurt
  • In baked goods
  • Mixed into stirfrys
  • Perfect for homemade granola, energy bites and bars!!

This leads me to today’s recipe:

NO BAKE ENERGY BITES

I found this recipe on Smashed Peas and Carrots thanks to a friendly co-worker. I tweaked the recipe to add in my own favourite mix ins, including Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts. You can swap up the nut butter to suit your needs. The first time I made it I used WOW Butter so Olivia could take them to school. They are great before or after a workout or just as an after school snack.

1 cup oatmeal
½ cup peanut butter (or other nut butter)

 honey to taste
1 cup coconut flakes
½ cup ground flaxseed

2 Tbsp Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts
1/2 cup cocoa nibs or mini chocolate chips
1 tsp vanilla

Sprinkle of Cinnamon

Mix all the ingredients together, adding as much honey as you need, the honey does provide moisture, so adjust honey and nut butter as necessary to make a sticky but not overly wet mixture!

Refrigerate for about 30 mins if you desire, I just rolled them up into balls.

Store in fridge and enjoy!

You can change up the mix ins, cranberries, nuts, raisins etc would all be great!!! Maple Syrup is a terrific honey substitute.

Monday – Rebecca’s Sweet 16!!! Grilled Steaks, Caesar salad, roasted asparagus and baked potato.

Tuesday – Dinner out for Tim and I, left overs for the kiddos

Wednesday – Tomato Macaroni soup

Thursday – Chicken Mango fajitas

Friday – Out of town. Pizza??

Saturday – TBD

Breakfasts – Pancakes, green smoothies, eggs

Lunches – Eggs, Soup, salads

Snacks – Shakeology, no bake energy bites, cut up fruit, and muffins
