What would your trainer say??? – #Dishthefit linkup

Happy Tuesday,

Well I made it through my first Monday back to work, sort of…

Olivia woke us up at 4am Monday morning sick, luckily my dad had the day off and was able to stay home with her. It was a rough day, cut my finger, dropped stuff everywhere, aunt flow came to visit (sorry if thats TMI), Rebecca didn’t sleep at all Monday ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Let’s just say I am so happy its Tuesday!!

And even better … It’s Time to Dish The Fit!!

Every Tuesday the awesome Jessica from The Fit Switch and Jill from Jill Conyer’s Fitness Health and Happiness host their link up – #dishthefit. A time where we bloggers dish on HOT Fitness Topics

This week’s Topic….

Well I have not really had a true personal trainer but I have participated in a few GROUP fitness classes and have had my fair share of time with Television Trainers like Tony Horton and Chalene Johnson!!

So what are some of the best things those folks have said or shared with me???

My first real trainer was Shawnda Norlock she is an Ontario certified group Fitness Leader and High School Teacher. She was the ONE who taught me anything is possible. She introduced me to running back in 2011 and really pushed me far!!!

She always said things like …

it will be fun

ABOUT EVERYTHING – EVEN 10 K at 30C or 5K at -20C

and …

run 10 walk 10

when I was getting tired!

she taught me

as well, speed work in disguise!!

Another very influential person in my fitness life isn’t a trainer but rather my Chiropractor ย – Richard Radford. He kept me in top shape when my body was letting me down. He knows how important training and racing is to me. His most memorable quotes include…

rich quote

Of course he says this with a smile and is a very close friend!

Tony Horton, (P90X3 and P90) is an AMAZING trainer, I mostly love his jokes how age hasn’t slowed him down and why waste your time on the elliptical when yo can get a terrific workout in your living room in just 30 minutes (no offence to those who love the elliptical)

Chalene Johnson known from Turbo Fire and Piyo has a wonderful personality. She encourages you every single step of the way. She begs you to LOVE you body and reminds you that you need to think positively!

not tire

Lastly, I do not know exactly who wrote this awesome motivational gems, but I sure do love them!

My girls used that last quote on my medal hanger that they made me for Mother’s Day last year. It really has a special spot in my heart!

What quotes have motivated you?

Do you have a personal trainer?

Side note: so far I have kept to my bedtime routine and other than sick kids keeping my up, I am getting more sleep.

  1. Love this! SO sorry about your rough day back; what a beast! So unfair. I love the motivational people in your life, and what they have taught you. The meme, ‘c’mon, it will be fun,’ cracks me up! lol. And, Tony Horton, just love that guy. So much fun. Keep up the awesomeness Jennifer! So blessed to be friends with you! #fitfamlove

    1. Thanks for reading!! Yup Shawnda says everything with a smile and I totally believe that she thinks it will be fun. it usually is tough and hurts, but in the end I always end up loving it, well most of the time ๐Ÿ˜‰
So glad to be part of the #fitfam!!

  2. I did not start running until I was 45 ๐Ÿ™‚ so I am all about making the courage to start! So I often remind myself that I AM lapping everyone on the couch! I hope you are having a much better day today!

  3. Love all your quotes. I keep telling one of my friends to start running with me by telling her “Come on, it will be fun”. So far she doesn’t totally believe me but she’s starting to budge! It always seems impossible until it’s done right?! Thanks for sharing!!

    1. Funny how we runner’s think running is so much fun, but non runners look at us like we are crazy!! lol Thanks for reading ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Awe thanks Jodi!!! The courage to start is what most people lack. so many people are simply afraid to try in fear of failure. I am trying to change that by encouraging everyone to get active. i may even say “come on it will be fun” from time to time ๐Ÿ˜‰

  4. I’m sorry about your rough day yesterday! :[ Aunt flow sucks. :[

The motivational people in your life sound awesome! I started laughing at the “Come on, it’ll be fun!” quote stated about anything (those temperatures look terrifying) and startled my foster kitty. (Oops. ๐Ÿ˜ก ) I definitely agree with that last one about having the courage to start–sometimes, that’s honestly the hardest part!

    1. Aunt flow does suck ๐Ÿ˜ฆ Our weather has an awful range from =35C in summer rt o-45C in winter. It scares me too!
I am so glad that I got over my fear of starting, because look at me now!!
thanks for popping in and commenting ๐Ÿ™‚

  5. Sorry about the rough Monday! I may have already mentioned this a time or 2 but I love love Tony! Deciding to do P90X was one of my all time in the top 5 best fitness decisions. I was introduced to Chalene this year and love her almost as much. Getting to workout with her at Blogfest was a dream! I could chat about this stuff for hours ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for being a part of the #fitfam!

  6. Wow actually being at a live workout would be a terrific experience!! Living in a small northern community limits my group workout opportunities, not to mention the extreme weather. So I rely on dvd workouts luckily beach body makes ones that are fun and highly effective.
